The school I am teaching at has new pearls, so the question is to use the strap or not?
Thanks.

No need to bother I reckon, they're more a pain in the arse than anything

If you already have them, why not try them? I have no experience with them but don't see any reason to immediately reject them. If they don't work for your group then you can just take them off. However you could find that they are great and wish you had been using them earlier. If you try them, report back to the forum and share your impressions.

Yesterday I tried the Airframe for the first time, and before that I've always used the tubular Randall May carriers. When I tried the strap I immediately noticed how much more easily the drum moved with my body. If I were you I'd try out the straps and see how they go, and if your show doesn't require very much movement and the straps are deemed unnecessary, then just take them off. But they would help keep the drums a lot more stable if your kids move a lot in the show.

I have used them now for a year...
DEFINITELY use them for the tenors and bottom bass. I let my kids decide for themselves though.
When I had the tenors on with the strap it was like 20lbs were gone

Thanks guys!
At corps we don't use the straps, I will probably have snares just take theirs off.
