How to practice music?? And how to play diddle triplets?

Posted: Thu Aug 13, 2015 12:38 am

So I was given music for snare cause I made snare for final year at my high school Drumlime and I also want to make snare for future corps/bands. How do I practice music, I was given a field show and stand tunes to memorize and I'm feeling overwhelmed by it. Theirs a lot of triplet diddles in my schools show. So would it have to be played RRLLRR RRLLRR or RRLLRR LLRRLL? I want to get better as a snare player to play with corps and indoor. Thanks!

99% of the time unless it's written you should alternate (RRLLRR LLRRLL)
¸,¤°ˆˆ°¤,¸..............¸,¤°ˆˆ°¤,¸..Jå$øn..¸,¤°ˆˆ°¤,¸...............¸,¤°ˆˆ°¤,..
...............ˆ°¤,¸¸,¤°ˆ.............D®µm G33K............ˆ°¤,¸¸,¤°ˆ..............

'12-'13 MHS Alto Sax "Latin Heat"
'13-'14 MHS Flute "Riverdance"
'14-'15 MHS Marimba "Styx"
'15-'16 MHS Snare "Hard Rock"

I want to add two things for ya Hobbit. Those are triplet rolls and are the same as the sixtuplets you asked about previously. They are just presented with a different look. Be sure to do your math and play them exactly where they land in time. They are larger notes than 1/16 note diddles. That means there is more space in between them. 1/16 note diddles (1/32 notes) are played more closed, and 1/12 note diddles (1/24) are played more open.

For me memorization always went faster when playing with headphones and a recording.
