what does learning music look like for you? I.E do you take it bar by bar, or phrase by phrase, or run it slow, and bump the tempo, or anything else

I personally take things way down tempo. If it's available, I try to play along with a slowed down version of whatever I'm learning. I do that section by section, though, not the whole song (no one wants to count 20 measures of rest at 30% speed). If I run into issues at higher tempos, I break down whatever small part is giving me problems.

I typically listen along with a video while looking at the music, then slow down and go bar by bar with a met.
