Okay so I've been paranoid about where I'm gripping the stick lately. right now I'm using Colin McNutts. In the left hand the intersection between my thumb and index finger is right on the H of firth. In the right hand my thumb is right over the flag just barely touching the H. Are these the right spots or am I holding the sticks too far back? If you guys tell me how to put pictures in posts I'll be more than happy to post some on here if you need them.

Hope this helps, if you need a pic, just ask.

Right hand:
• Your thumb and index should be about a thrid up the stick
• Wrap the rest of your fingers naturally around the stick (middle ring pinky)
• Make the back or "butt" of the stick come out of the back of the hand (not too much not too little)

And of course, the left:
• First off, everything should be natural. place the stick in between the index and thumb
• Wrap your pinky middle and ring fingers around the sticks naturally (stick should go in between the middle and ring)
• The stick should rest on the cuticle of your ring finger
• Middle finger should curve onto the stick (again...naturally)
• And finally, your thumb/forearm should create a straight line. No curve or wrists bent inwards.

this isn't everything, but hopefully it's helpful in someway

From my experience, the best fulcrum point (depending on technique) is on or near the American flag on Vic Firth sticks. So, yes, your grip sounds correct. Also, with IP signature sticks, I usually hold right on the last name of the artist.
