Yo Imogen Heap is the bomb. She gets a lot of down talk because people think she uses the effects to cover up her lack of talent, but I can tell you (as a voice major) that the girl can sing!

Yeah. That was definitely one of the better songs on the album. It's a very hit or miss album for me. Most songs I wouldn't call punk at all, which is fine (because not listening to music because it's not a certain genre is stupid), but they weren't really my cup of tea. It seems like the novelty of the music comes from listening to popular songs and then SUDDEN BREAKDOWN/SCREAMING rather than actually changing the style of music, which is fine if that's your type of jam.

Some songs I would listen to again and again. Most were a one and done. Though I have to admit, hearing "SO *beep*-ING CALL ME *BREAKDOWN*" was quite amusing.

Yeah dude, some people just roll with the bandwagon and start pointing fingers at artists for using 'effects'. They don't know what the 'effects' do, but they know that 'effects' are being used and that just obviously means zero talent on the artist's part. Nevermind the fact that 99% of DAW after-edits don't do anything to cover up mistakes. Nevermind the fact that literally every piece of non-indie produced contemporary music has some sort of effect added to enhance the sound/create a musical idea. EFFECTS ARE THE DOWNFALL OF MUSIC.

/sarcasm

Also, I can't tell if you were down talking autotune or not (can't really tell through text) but so many artists use autotune/melodyne that it's not even funny. It's not really an issue unless you're literally pitch correcting every note because you can't sing in tune. Other than that, they're human bro. There's no way they could single every note they've ever sang in tune every single time. It would blow a lot of minds if there were a list made of artists who used some sort of pitch correction at some point in their career at any length. That list would be huuuuuuuuge.

oh no, how could people POSSIBLY have sung well before the invention of auto-tune? Ella. Sinatra. Aretha. Ray. Any hundreds of more. The list goes on. You can go to a club in any city and see a talented vocalist sing their butt off without technology aiding them.

I'm all for adding digital effects to music, but the people who "sing" on the radio, and really just auto-tune every damn thing aren't musicians, they're entertainers
