Yep, and the HBCU lines work just as hard.

The public looks to be entertained. They don't give a rip about a line playing chili cheese fry flapjacks off the left. They want to hear something they can shake their ass to.

It's the burden of being in a corps style program.

Even though they can play those things at times, most choose not to even there are many HBCU lines that can play complicated materiel.

I used to talk smack about HBCU lines, then I grew up. Those lines have their own thing going, and it's really cool in a different way than corps style. Who cares if it's easier or whatever? (and I'm not saying it is) Appreciate it for what it is: groovy beats with great visual flair.

I'm stoked for this movie. It gets young kids to try out drumline. In my experience, getting junior high kids to show up for drumline is hard. The movie gives marching band notoriety and legitimacy to more people. It also provides inside jokes for drummers and bandos everywhere.
