We tried doing away with leadership positions, it was ineffective.

He has already stated openly that the roles would no longer be determined by seniority. He said no freshmen will make it into a leadership role, but he is taking sophomores and up now

I was the drum captain this year, but not center snare. In fact I was the only tenor player.
Difference between me and center snare:
I can teach
I'm not socially awkward
I don't cause arguments

there's this kid who was center snare last year and this year its between me and him of whos going to be center/captain. he's more of a show-band snare player while im a heavily influenced corps player. he got center cause he is more popular with the other members of the band but in terms of chops were about the same.

man, popularity is like the worst criteria I can think of for a leadership position. What is your BD thinking?

my BD and instructor chose him. whenever i play somthing like shake hands for example i get yelled at and the other kid can play whatever he wants.

my BD and instructor chose him. it sucks.

kinda same situation with our 2 good tenor players. they mess around alot, so as people, my BD doesn't like them, but they hands. so they were put on bass this year and a vet and 2 new tenors made up the line. 1 quit. the other broke his foot 1 week before finals.

yeah, it will be intresting to see what happens. You have never been in such a "new" line. In fact, we haven't had a snare line this new for a long time...

Dude, what you all need is the player with the best chops, most maturity, most seniority (seniors in HS), center snare, and most expierience to be drum captain... which is what i will be next year. w00t! The captain this year is a tenor player and one of my best friends. He's pretty chill, and he's got OK chops too after me. But i destroy him at drums. It's so apparent that it's not even awkward or anything. We joke about it. He does'nt even know why or BD chose him this year. Stupid BD's. But the problem is, aside from me and him our d-line sucks nut man. S'Gonna be fun crackin the whip on 'em next year.
