Question for Quad players

Posted: Mon Jun 03, 2019 3:58 pm

For my band's 2019 show I am needing help deciding which implement to use on the tenors specifically. I know for more softer passages you would want to use puffy mallets, however at time would I consider to say switch to TS-IJ's or Aluminum Mallets from IP if you get what I'm getting at?

What does the music say?

Quiet passages don't have to be played using puffies. Puffies add a new color to the palette, just like sticks or hard felts do.

From what I'm looking at it doesn't say anything

What does your instructor, if you have one say?

Again, without context, it's an impossible question to answer. I've written for puffier during loud passages, I've written for them during soft passages. It's a color.

Would it help if I posted a MP3?
