I have been seeing on both Amazon and Lone Star that the unpainted Tom Aungst sticks are out. I want to buy these, but I'm paranoid on getting the OG painted ones. So has anyone bought any and have they came unpainted? or do you have to go all and march Cadets to get a pair?

Are you worried they'll send you the wrong stick? I'm not sure what you're asking

What I am asking is if I am buying them would I still get the painted ones or get the unpainted ones.

I'm fairly certain that Lonestar is more organized than that, and if nothing else if you order them and get a painted pair, send them an email and ask about it and they should be willing to help you out.

I don't know if Vic Firth even produces the painted version anymore so it's pretty unlikely that you'll accidentally get a painted pair.

From what I understand they stopped painting them due to the tendency for the red paint to bleed through stick tape. Keep the same tape on a pair of Aungsts for a couple weeks and they're pink before you know it XD

Paint bleeding through, and just a general tendency for painted sticks to be harder to grip. Anyone who's ever held a pair of hardimons when their hands are sweaty will know. I remember seeing Cadets in the lot at DCI San Antonio last year, before the unpainted ones were released, and every snare player except for 1 or 2 had either sanded the paint off or used some keys to scrape it off.

I believe it. Oddly enough I've never had an issue with the feel of paint, but i know a lot of people who do

Lone Star only has the new version in stock. I sold the last remaining painted pairs a few weeks ago (I work at Lone Star). Always feel free to give LSP a call to place orders or to ask any questions you might have. 214-340-0835

My question is, If I buy from LSP online does the California ship the sticks or Texas store?

It'll ship from Dallas by default. You'll need to call the order in for us to manually have it shipped from Fullerton, or if you want it to go out faster, call the Fullerton store directly - 714-888-3873
