General Finals Discussion Thread

Just curious to see what everyone thinks of the results of last night

SO happy SCV got the Sanford (Paul finally got it on an odd year!!) but I think they got robbed with a silver medal. Blue Devils certainly weren't a full point better than them.

Glad BK passed Phantom, and very happy Cavaliers passed Bluecoats. I hated jagged line.

BD's visual package was cleaner and felt more cohesive than SCV's. They beat them pretty hard in visual analysis as well as a little in brass.

And here comes the disagreement...
I love Jagged Line as a show. As a jazz person by nature, it was REALLY entertaining, especially musically. But my gosh, why the shotgun mic's, and RIP that trumpet who stepped off hella early... XD
Loved the show, but it definitely deserved 5th.

Yeah I'm gonna disagree with you. Downside up was a new take on a drum corps show, and it was awesome, but I feel like jagged line just moved too far away from traditional drum corps. They tried too hard to reinvent drum corps and to be modern and new and the end product just wasn't good. I enjoyed the music, but the show as a whole I did not

And this is going to continue to happen... We've seen this back and forth thing for the last 3 or 4 years wherein a group does something boundary-pushing, has a little success (Bluecoats 14, 16), then pushes it way too far (15 and especially 17). Crown did a good job finding a happy medium - the space show was a little much, then Inferno and Relentless were just right.

I'm just afraid that drum corps will become WGI. Not necessarily because I don't like indoor (that's another talk), but because I really like marching band.

And the uniforms. Oh dear.
