Favorite I&E Solo

Posted: Sun Jul 30, 2017 12:38 am

I figured that, seeing as it's been a while since there's been one of these threads, I'd make a new one to see what people think. I'm mainly talking snare solos cuz that's my instrument but feel free to toss in a tenor or drumset or whatever solo, everything's welcome.

Now that my rambling is done, my personal favorites are both Brandon Olander's and Bryce Gardner's from 2015, and Roger Carter's from 1994 (I'm convinced he just made that whole thing up on the spot and you can't tell me otherwise). I also love the winning 2015 timpani solo because for whatever reason I found it hilarious the first time I heard it and recognized the music from Tetris.

My all-time favorite is definitely Keelan Tobia's solo from 2011. One solo that I was really impressed with when I first saw it was Takayuki Nakabe's 2009 solo. Tim Jackson's 2006 tenor solo is a classic, and since bass doesn't get enough love on this site, the Blue Knights 2008 bass ensemble is pretty amazing.
