retaping sticks

So I read somewhere that it is best to tape your sticks before every practice. I can understand this for snare since the rim tears up tape much quicker, but how often would one recommend a tenor player retape their sticks? And even if you are a snare, every practice seems very time consuming and tape consuming. I was thinking once a week at most or on an as-needed basis. Opinions?

Tape sticks on an as-needed basis. Unless you're seriously tearing up your tape there's absolutely no reason to tape before every practice. In fact, I have several pairs of sticks that are still rocking the first tape I ever put on them and they're doing just fine.
