I don't think it's the same kind or quality of discussion, since it's much easier to get that delicious sense of Internet connectedness by talking rubbish with Facebook friends, whereas before, you had to enter the world of BB forums where older people had expectations of etiquette and on-topicness. So the "conversation" is now very decentralised.
The drumline reddit is about as busy as this place. And Facebook pages are not as conducive as the BB format to having knowledge reach people who need it. It's a shame, really.

I haven't seen Ryan on here in ages even.
I also think that a lot of the people that were doing the transcribing moved on simply because of the mass amount of people whose first post is "can someone transcribe all the stuff?"

My posts are mine and mine alone.
They do not now or in the future represent any group, person (both living and dead) that I have been, am currently, or will be in the future associated with.

Oh well I can't take all the credit, Bill.billc36 wrote:I also think that a lot of the people that made this site popular have moved on with their lives.

I'll speak for myself here. Even though I stayed in marching band through college, my interest in drum corps and talking about it on the internet decreased dramatically. Going from a high school band that took itself very seriously, college band was a shock. Before I arrived and after I first joined, I resented it quite a bit. Now I love what I did in college even more than high school. College changed my lifestyle completely, and the fun I had on here was quickly replaced with the fun I had interacting with classmates and roommates IRL. I haven't played tenors in probably 9 months now (my guess is March Madness of last year), but honest to god I think about it every day. I don't necessary wish I was still doing it, but riffs and cadences seem to just make their way into my mind and hands absent-mindedly, and I find myself free styling to music I'm listening to once in a while. None of this, unfortunately, makes for good snarescience material.
Nowadays, the monotony of full-time work has settled in. I've thought about teching at a local HS as a volunteer, but none nearby seem to have a serious marching band program. Unfortunately I don't have much to contribute around here anymore, besides occasionally stopping by and seeing something semi-nostalgic like this.

I love him
Drum corps kids from here have mostly aged out and stopped doing band I guess. I'm 18 and young but it's getting kinda lonely.

There used to be dozens of new threads every day here. Hundreds and hundreds of comments a day. Impossible for any one person to read in its entirely (hence the extensive mod team).thelimper15 wrote:i mean, there seems to be fairly active people as of these past few months, consistent transcriptions and newer generalized content. that being said, i wasn't active on here in the past, i dont know of everything that has happened in the past
