Take any pile of notes and end it with a quarter note triplet.

For example, take something like the first few bars of Drum Corps on Parade:

(By the way, I don't advertise this to be accurate... just scribbled it down fast to demonstrate the concept!)

Without a metronome its not drumming, its just hacking.
