Inverted Rudiments

What makes a rudiment inverted? I know inverted flams are just double tap flames, so why not just call them double tap flams? What makes it inverted?

Regular Flam taps would go as
lR R rL L lR R rL L
Inverted Flam taps would go as
lR L rL R lR L rL R
This is "inverted" because the taps are switched to the front of the flam (R lR) rather than after the flam (lR R).
