You can probably find one at your local drum shop, I got my first one for about 20 bucks. It might not be a v3 but it definitely gets the job done.

And yeah, if it's going to be that much I'd definitely go with the v3. It's worth it for sure.

I have an HQ realfeel, and a homemade tenor pad lol. its still pretty legit though..
also i think its fine that you buy alot, you can loan/sell to friends or if you plan to teach lessons they will come in handy.

I'm actually going to start recommending that students get the shuttle pad as their first pad. It's light, portable, articulate, it feels like a drum, and it's not too expensive.

In order of when I got them

Pearl 8" Tunable (comes with bell kits)
Evan's HQ RealFeel 12"
Invader V3.

Or just a big *beep* sheet of gum rubber so I can get my whole line to chop out on it.

The order I stack it is
Invader
^

Realfeel
^
Pearl

top to bottom

I had a remo tunable pad, but I left that in the band room at my old school because I hated it. I got a stockpad, but lost that somewhere at my old school. I had a vater doublesided pad that I liked, but the gum rubber got way too soft from playing on it a lot. I got a V3, which I still have, and I have an hq ecopad for quiter playing. I have spent way too much money on drum pads, but I want a slim pad still lol

I have a Vic Firth slim pad (that was the first pad I ever got and is the most reliable piece of drum equipment I have ever bought. 8 years of use) Also have an V3 and that's my face. Had a Prologix snare pad but I sold it to a friend because I didn't like the feel of it and the flimsy rim. And I also have a moon gel pad for chop building.

I currently have a Remo tunable pad, a Tom Brown pipe band pad and a VF Stockpad. Over the years, however, I have had dozens.

Doesn't it seem everyone gets one of those crappy Remo pads when they start, yet nobody ever seems to throw them away?

is the shuttle pad worth having? I saw it and thought it looked weird....des it have the same feel as the invader or does it have a better feel?

The V3 definitely has a better feel IMO (i.e. more like an actual snare) and the rim is nice and stuff like that, but the shuttle is a lot more portable and easier to play in the center of when sitting down cause you can have the center near your knees without having weight pulling down in front of your knees. Also if you're on a school bus, the less bulky shape should be nice. As for the shuttle's feel, it's not as bouncy--a little less than the "back" of the V3, depending on what it's sitting on. I have both and I'd say they're both worth having.
