I don't use the "latest scores" method. I use a combined weighting method which includes up to the last three WGI performances an ensemble had(prelims and finals count as two separate performances). This way, consistency and improvement in scores are also contributing factors in the weighting of the overall score, and the possibility of a high-scoring set of judges throwing everything off is reduced. Here is the formula I use, for groups that have one, two, and three WGI performances under their belt:

1 Performance
Performance 1: 100%

2 Performances
Latest performance: 75%
Next latest performance: 25%

3 Performances
Latest performance: 50%
Next latest performance: 30%
Earliest eligible performance: 20%

The Vancouver regional was canceled, so OCI won't have a WGI score til Dayton. But the last scores we got locally were 84.75 and 85.25.

Then OCI will simply stay out of it until finals weekend. That doesn't put you all in last place, it just means there isn't enough information to rank you accurately. I don't use local circuit scores because they are oftentimes wayyy inflated.

I think your system's a little flawed because groups like Onondaga and SCVC got those scores in early/mid February which is really impressive, they could easily improved enough to be one of the best right now.

It doesn't matter until Dayton.

Also, count on Odyssey jumping in the mix. They will make a nice run for a medal, probably.

Turner is right, it doesn't matter until Dayton. This is just a guess, just a fun little system to see what everyone's doing right now.

Drew Anderson, regardless of whether my system or the "most recent score" system is used, they still got those scores in February so it wouldn't even matter.

Y'all be takin' this too seriously. It's just for fun, folks.

I doubt our scores from our last local show were inflated much, if at all. They're six points lower than the scores we got at our first show, and this last show was significantly better than the first. They seem pretty realistic to me.

I guess we'll find out when we get to Dayton!

Well, either way, it's still not right to compare scores from different circuits because, obviously, they're different circuits. It's really not that big of a deal, it's not like anyone's gonna hate on you because you're not going to any regionals.

Yeah, I totally agree. That's why I made the last comment about Dayton. To be honest, I'm pretty *beep* nervous going into WGI without having been scored in that circuit yet. Our score seems pretty accurate, but the whole inflation factor is what makes me unsure.

The judges at Dayton are very good at what they do. There's no need to be nervous. Just perform your show like you know, and everything will be ok.

I don't see the point in arguing about inflation... different judges will have different opinions.

Tyler should be added to the list of haven't seen or been evaluated by national judges. But they were SOLID finalists last year.

I had read somewhere that they weren't coming to finals. Youtube, I think. That's usually such a reliable source of info.

I can't let this thread go on further without some corrections. Your list of predictions has quite a few lines missing and quite a few lines who are not going to Dayton in it.

Lines going to WGI Championships PIO Prelims:
Alternative Percussion
Atlanta Quest
Brahma
Dark Sky
Elements
Genesis
George Mason
Green Thunder
Groove Pursuit
Imperial Percussion Theater
Matrix Open
MN Brass Indoor
Motor City
OC Indoor
Onondaga Community College
Palmetto
Pariah
Penn State
Pioneer Indoor
STRYKE
Tates Creek
Tyler Junior College
Valley Independent

Base your predictions on that list.

Right now my only picks to make finals based on what I have seen are (in no order): Tates, STRYKE, Palmetto, Brahma.

I only included lines that had received a score at the time of the posting date- regardless of whether or not they were attending finals. The post date was one to two days after the Indianapolis Regional. I planned on posting an updated ranking after this weekend, as Nashville is such a huge weekend for Open Class, and I still intend to do so. I will base my RANKINGS(they are rankings, NOT predictions), on groups that receive a score at ANY WGI event, regardless of their finals attendance status. And since they are, after all, MY rankings, I feel like I can do them as I see fit.

I have to ask that you please tread the line between calling what I have posted "rankings" rather than "predictions". As I compete in an Open Class line, I don't feel it appropriate to post an opinionated prediction, but I feel it is appropriate to post a ranking based on scores received at WGI events.
