Damn... I'ma start working on that.

Off topic, but I have Finale 07 and Sibelius 4. I like how easy Sibelius is to use, but the problem is that the battery sounds suck (I downloaded it, so that could be why...). Anyone know how I can change the soundfont? I figured it out in Finale, but I don't know if the soundfont I use is compatible with Sibelius, or even how to install it in the first place. Help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't think they release any sort of packs out for the sounds...but i do agree, the sounds really do suck....it's like a concert snare, really crappy toms for tenors, and terribly muffled toms for bass drums.
I pew pew all over your drum.

When I write something I usually just play around on the pad find something I like, write that out then I go and play that part and then add something else and keep on doing the same thing till I belive I'm done but that just what I do

That's pretty much what I do. I just start playing something on my pad and once I've got a few bars I'm happy with, then I'm like "I should write this down" so I make sure I know what I'm doing and start writing it out. Then sometimes I'll try to write stuff that makes "musical sense" I guess you could say, as opposed to random notes, which is still fun but I like to put some thought into my writing as well.

If whatever you're hacking sounds cool then yeah, write it down. You can tweak it to make it feel better or sound cooler later anyway.

at measure nine, after the first four 32nd notes, is it an eight note into the triplet thing or is it the triplet thing going into an eight note?

Triplet going into an eighth note ;) So the "skeleton" rythym would be eighth tri-p-let eighth

talking about how to write music, I write my licks on paper, and use finale notepad later to write it down. I've noticed that I get side-tracked when I use finale notepad because I'm not good at it, so I try to figure something out, and then I get side-tracked for like 30 minutes....

It means that you kind of let the stick naturally fall for the next note I guess. Kind of like a half accent. Or, how when you play flam taps, most people don't play them with the second note at the same height as the first. They sort of let the second note fall at a lower height. That's essentially what the tenuto marking means when I use it. Unless it's over a buzz. Then it just means long/sustained. Make sense?
