WGI Auditions and Snare solo

Posted: Thu Oct 29, 2015 6:27 pm

Hey Guys! This is my first question to snare science and I was wondering if you guys could give me any advice on auditioning for WGI? I know the typical exercises and I have about a year to prepare, but I really want to make it into Dojo! Also, I have my schools solo/ensemble coming up and I'm doing the solo "First" by Stacy Dugan, do you have any advice on that as well? Thanks!!

Well, the I&E you'll have no problem with, just don't stop. I played Display by the same lady and I messed up a few times and even stopped once but I still got a superior.

I'm struggling so hard with wgi because I auditioned for Infinity and going in I thought I was so much better than I actually was. Literally, I get told this all the time but it is the hardest thing in the world no matter how hard I try: Chill

My philisophy is that you can never go into your first ever DCI/WGI audition and make it, you'll just be too nervous and they can tell when you're not comfortable. Rn I'm auditioning for Infinity 3 which is A class and I'm probably gonna get put on cymbals. And the reason for that is because I wasn't chill. The VE guy walked up to me during block and said "you don't look comfortable." But you have to start somewhere, and the more you do, even if it's rack, I'm sure you'll be considered more and relaxed at future auditions.
Again I haven't experienced this myself, this is just my philosophy, so tell me if I'm wrong
Hope this helped
