Any good independent exercises for beginners?

I cannot play any independent stuff to save my life. I really want to be able to play something totally different in one hand and the other so if you guys know any good exercises please let me know. I was told that Flash Gordon by SCV was a good one but it seems a little too advanced for me

What I first started with was playing double beat on one hand, and then playing 8th notes on the other hand. One you've accomplished that, you can change the 8th notes to 16th notes, moving through the partials (1e+, 1e a, 1 +a, e+a).
