Slurred Tap-Five Modulation (& with backsticks)

Posted: Sat Jun 06, 2015 8:27 pm

*.pdf Sheet Music: http://fatmattdrums.com/pdf/e_tap_five_mod.pdf

This is a cool swing-sounding pattern into which slurred tap-fives are fit. Unlike my other modulation patterns (the ones you'll find in Rudiment Control), this one isn't really conducive to working on any other rudiments, so it's all about the tap-fives. Some of the hand-speed changes are extremely slight, so achieving rhythmic accuracy without doing things that affect volume or sound quality is pretty tricky.

But if you get it, go ahead and backstick all the accents.

EDIT: Somehow didn't realise that I hadn't flipped the video. It's fixed now.

Very rarely do I get a groove like that listening to five lets. Nice. I'm a big fan of your work, man. Get up there and get published because you at the least understand the writing aspect of exercises.
You cant just 'hit' a drum; you have to beat the s*** out of it. ~Eric Cartman

I'm that guy who says he'll try out for drum corps next year and never does.
But I'm totally gonna try to march Alliance this summer.
