The Pad Workout
Description:
Eighth notes, Sixteenth notes.
Routine Steps:
- eights-160, 4 reps
- eights-190, 4 reps
- 16th-grid-single-forward-130, 3 reps
- 16th-note-timing1-140, 2 reps
- 16th-note-timing2-140, 5 reps
- eights-200, 10 reps

I've found that in addition to the above basics workout, your rudiments will also improve if you incorporate
them into a build up formula. For example: a 4-2-1 exercise using flam paradiddles, pataflaflas, flamtaps,
inverts, swiss 3's, two handed swisses, cheeses, etc...whatever rudiment grouping you're currently into or
wanting to incorporate into your playing. Also use a 12/8 pattern as you insert flam accents, flam drags,
flam 5's,etc..into the 4-2-1 exercise. This is very basic but often overlooked by younger players who may
have never been exposed to this.

Sounds pretty cool. I'd add crescendos/decrescendos to all of those for at least a couple bars.

Question: what is a two handed swiss?

Actually it is an "alternating swiss" where instead of the usual R_R_L or L_L_R you would play R_R_L L_L_R
Hope this clears things up.
