AP Exams (not a cheating thread)

Posted: Sun May 09, 2010 5:32 pm

Who is taking/has taken/will someday take AP exams?

I took US History this year, and will take Physics and Calc next year.

I took US history this past Friday. I felt pretty confident. We did a mock exam a few weeks ago and I got some 20 points over the requirement for a 5.

Wednesday is English language and comp, which will be pretty easy. Next year, I'll be taking Government, English Lit and Comp, Calc BC and Chemistry.

I took the AP US History test on Friday. I was like 0.o when I was that the DBQ was Puritans (it's been 48 hours, so I'm allowed to discuss it).

I take the Physics B one tomorrow, and I'll probably fail, since we didn't cover everything in class.

I take English Lit and Comp on Wednesday.

I was pretty happy to see that was the DBQ. If it was anything from the reconstruction through world war II, I'd be pretty screwed since my teacher kinda neglected those 60 years, haha. I thought I wrote it fairly well. I rushed it a little at the end because my proctor decided to be dumb and wrote the suggested times wrong (she gave 35 minutes for the DBQ, 35 for the first FRQ and 55 for the last one :\), but I still wrote about 5 pages.

I miraculously passed all my AP tests but the only one that mattered was physics because the honors program at my school requires two semesters of composition regardless of AP credit and I decided to take Calc 1 because I wasn't feeling well about my score on the test.

By the way, if the Calc AB test hasn't happened yet, I left two of the free response questions completely blank when I took it and still got a 3. Just throwing that out there.

The APUSH Exam wasn't too hard. Puritans wasn't too hard in my opinion, but I just had a hard time with outside sources, all I could think of was Anne Hutchinson and Roger Williams that could relate to that topic. FRQ's were really easy, but I think I didn't do very well on MC.

AP Physics B in a few hours, I'm on track to getting a 1, so unprepared. hahaha

Had AP European History friday. I don't know how it went honestly. We'll see in July. AP Environmental tommorow, and it's not a hard class, but I haven't really prepared, so I will likely fail.

AP English on Wednesday, and resceduled AP Government exam Wednesday after that. Not really worried about both, but mainly because I would be satisfied with a 3 on both exams... haha

took Physics C today.. that was rediculus. i kept thinking, well this shiz was nuts.. so this half will be a little easier.... and it never got any easier, if anything it got harder.

im taking psych tomorrow. which will be hard because Ive never actually taken a psychology course in my life... and my entire education in that subject comes from a princeton review book

AP Language and Composition Wednesday... I'm excited, I love analytical writing. (I just hope we don't get an excerpt from one of Queen Liz's speeches...)

Are AP physics and AP US history hard?I might be taking them next year.

I got through 3/4 of the year in AP world history then had to get out of it because I had too much strenuous things going on.Like I did pretty well on the tests for someone who turned in my notes late and didn't study the whole chapters compared to those who did all the notes and failed tests,When I actually turned in my notes on time I would get 19/20.I need to work on time management...

APUSH wasn't too hard for me. People in my school say it's supposed to be one of the hardest classes available (next to BC Calc and Physics C), but it was pretty manageable. I think it really comes down to the teacher, though. I'd end up going through cycles of having two weeks with relatively no work, and then one day where get home from school and work on US until 2 in the morning. That can probably be avoided if you have any sort of time management skills, but I don't.

There are two things that really helped me throughout the year: AMSCO and historyteacher.net. AMSCO was given to us by our teacher. If you're teacher doesn't give it to you, buy it on your own. It's a very condensed book. Our primary textbook was Foner's, which ran about 1100 pages with 40 page chapters. It had a ton of 'fluff' and superfluous information in it. AMSCO is about 700 pages and had much shorter, 13 page chapters which contained only what you needed to know. I read that book cover to cover the night before the mock exam and got 80/90 multiple choice right, and 7, 8, and 9 on the DBQ and two free responses, respectively, which put me well over the mark for a 5. That's the best way to study. Historyteacher.net is also great. It has practice tests on every section of US history which you can take.
