Alternating flams

Posted: Sun Dec 04, 2016 8:59 pm

Does anyone have suggestions on how to build speed on alternating flams? Right now my practice consists of working bucks at a slow tempo and building speed, starting at about 110 and slowly building up the tempo until I can't handle it anymore. Does anyone have any other practice ideas or does it just take more time?

I would do the check pattern of each hand RrRrRrRr lLlLlLlL
Another good exercise would be to play double stops and work on alternating the hands. Hand-to-hands are typically played decently loose on the left hand.

I learned to play them by just hacking them out till I got them.
