Is it possible to actually ask the guy who told you to do this? All we as forum members
can do is speculate as to what he means by this. To me weight=force, but to someone
else it may mean something totally different. He may mean to play into the head more.
Who knows? I would ask your tech. That what he gets paid the big bucks for.

I agree with what he said. You'll have to ask him yourself. Personal background (ha-hem) tells me that he meant you should follow through and imagine the drumhead an inch below what it actually is.

He probably means more velocity. You may be playing too lightly so your sound is timid. At least allow the stick to "fall" with the weight of your hand, and if he says that's not enough, put more force into the stroke. That doesn't mean to choke the stick. Ask your instructor what he means.

It may mean that your holding the stick too tightly. I used to do that until i was told the same thing. Try holding the stick looser and change your fulcrum from your index finger to your middle-ring. After doing that the stick should feel heavier and that may be what he means.
(and when you hit the drum try to get the stick go as fast as you can. Make the strokes feel like your dribbling a basketball almost. Use as much velocity as you can. While using your middle and ring finger as the fulcrum) And as for your left hand just make sure you get a full wrist turn :)
