README: How to submit music

Posted: Wed Feb 11, 2009 9:16 pm

1.) Please start a new topic for each musical piece.

2.) Include in the topic title the name of the musical piece and a brief description.

3.) If you are using musical notation software such as Finale or Sibelius, one way to create an image file as follows:

3a) Position the music in the window so that you can see the entire piece. If it is too big, you will need to make multiple images and put them together later.

3b) Press Fn + PrtSc to take a screen shot.

3c) Open microsoft paint.

3d) Press Ctrl + V to paste the screen shot into paint.

3e) Crop the image appropriately and save it to file.

4.) If you wrote the music by hand, use a scanner to create an image file.

5.) Upload the image - I usually use http://imageshack.us/

6.) Post the image directly into the forum topic (using the img tags) so that people don't have to leave the forum to view your music.

Another way to post files (my personal preference) is to make a pdf file.

Go to Google and download CutePDF Writer (or some other pdf maker). Sign up for an account at MediaFire.com, and post the link to the pdf you upload.

I second this. This is preferred for printing purposes. It is also a lot more organized than a ton of pictures.

I like Ryan's way. I'm too lazy to press a link and download; it's so much more faster if it's right there in front of you.

Why can't I get to the files on MediaFire.com?
