You don't
Well not really
I auditioned for infinity because I'm from Orlando and they're like, the boys there like you would expect. They're so good because they're all connected at the hip. They have such good chemistry it's unbelievable. Also I heard John Lluvera is strict as *beep*. But I think practicing upbeats with a metronome is the way to go. I don't play bass so I wouldn't know but I have practiced splits A LOT.
But yea I have watched that video millions of times.
I love infinity, and I hope to make it one day. I'm most likely going to march Infinity 3, PIA, but for cymbals so I have a long way to go.

These guys learned it. Anything we do in the activity can be learned. Its just a matter of how hard you're willing to work, and how high you're willing to make your standards from the very beginning. Nothing that Infinity is doing is a wildly complex idea in terms of polyrhythmic structure. Its just at a tempo that most wouldn't be able to handle. Split 32nds, are the same as split 16ths but twice as quick. Its all derived from a set of concepts, and the more you work to master those concepts, the more achievable what they're doing will seem. That's not to say what they are doing isn't insane. Just that people can get there. That baseline is simply the logical result of 5 guys who have put that work in, and then decided to stick together. They all march drum corps, and have been at Infinity together for a long time. But at some point, each one of them was looking at some bass line and asking the same questions you are.

As for how to get there, the more timing exercises you can get your hands on, the better. You need complete control over rhythms, and you have to have that control at a slow tempo before any of that stuff is going to make any sense. Its actually harder to play perfect rhythms slowly in a lot of ways, because there is more room for error. Master 16th and triplet timing exercises at 60 bpm and more standard tempos will simply be a matter of chops.
